What actually happens when you trigger it
Press SOS. The app immediately begins capturing audio and video, attaches the rolling buffer it was already holding on-device, starts a live transcript, opens a stream to your trusted contacts and begins logging GPS.
Nothing in that sequence asks you to make another decision. The app takes you at your word and gets to work, so you can keep your attention on the person in front of you.
When the encounter ends, the file is hashed, timestamped, bound to its location and written to your own Google Drive, so the copy that matters is in an account we do not control.
Shipping next Hands-free wake-phrase activation is returning on an OS-level path so this works with the screen locked and the phone in your pocket.

Add up to five Guardians
The people who will get your live stream, your GPS position and the alert. Ask each of them first, because consent matters on both ends of this product.

How much does it cost?
SOS Mode is free. Forever. One-press SOS recording, live streaming to trusted contacts, real-time rights guidance and evidence-grade documentation are on the free tier and will not be paywalled. Premium tiers will add features such as the attorney hotline. Enterprise and government plans are priced separately.
Does it work when my phone is locked or offline?
Recording works offline. Sessions queue locally and upload when you reconnect, and adaptive bitrate keeps the live stream going on a weak signal. Locked-screen hands-free activation is returning through an OS-level path in the next release; today you trigger from the app or a silent trigger.
Who can see my recordings?
You, and the trusted contacts you designate. Our infrastructure providers process live transcription, and we disclose valid legal process. Streams and recordings are encrypted, and files land in your own Google Drive under your control.
Is it legal for me to record the police?
Courts have broadly recognized the right to record on-duty officers performing their duties in public. Laws on recording private conversations vary. Some states require one-party consent, others all-party. Compliance is your responsibility. See the state reference map, and consult local counsel when uncertain.
